Poruwa ceremony

The traditional Sinhala Buddhist wedding ritual, run to the auspicious hour.

The experience

Tradition, with care.

The Poruwa ceremony is the heart of a traditional Sinhala Buddhist wedding. It is performed at an auspicious time (the nekath), on a decorated Poruwa platform, with blessings, traditional drummers and dancers, and rituals that families care about getting right.

We plan the day around the nekath, and we brief every supplier so the ceremony starts when it should.

What we take care of

The details.
In good hands.

Talk through your plans
  1. Timing around your astrologer’s nekath, with the rest of the day built to fit

  2. Poruwa design, décor and set-up at your venue

  3. Traditional drummers, dancers and ceremony performers

  4. Coordinating family roles, attire and the order of rituals

  5. A calm, rehearsed run of the ceremony itself
